Hills of Santa Barbara

Spread over 3,000 square feet and two levels, this midcentury inspired contemporary home reflects the ideal Santa Barbara lifestyle.  Corinne Mathern Studio created peaceful interiors for a young couple and their two Wirehaired Pointing Griffons, who moved from Dallas and fell in love with the site’s sublime views and surroundings.

The main reference that nurtured the design of this gut renovation is the Aman Hotel in Kyoto, Japan for it’s calm atmosphere.  The beauty of the landscape was calling for that inspiration.  Corinne’s team opted for an earthy palette with blue, green and yellow tones combined with raw wood, textural clay and soothing stone.  This blend of materials gave a true sense of flow and balance throughout the property.

We created a seamless connection between the indoor spaces and the exterior areas that invite you to experience them as one and the same.

In every room and nook, custom pieces of furniture by Corinne Mathern Studio and lighting by Atelier de Troupe, Ruemmler and Workstead dialogue with artworks by Gala Porras-Kim and Michael Wilson, among others.

Designed as a retreat for its inhabitants and an ode to the natural landscape, this home features interiors where every element has found its place while complementing each other.
